I told my players that maybe Rogar or some of they descendants leave the jeweled crown there maybe because it magic helped keep the Witch Lord sealed but this knowledge got lost and forgoten and thats why the High King sent them to get it back and they accidentaly freed the evil wizard from his slumber.

I always thought it was strange you are sent to fetch the Star of the West, but nothing comes of it. I don’t think its ever mentioned again. I know the king probably to unite his armies or whatever, but that is something mentioned long before in one of the introductions, so a lot of players would probably forget what it is.

We don't need another character pack, we have enough already!
Plus I have made a Battle Mage Character, so that's now 12 already.

In my game, Mentor hears rumors that the Star of the West is there and sends you to retrieve it, but it isn't the real artifact and is merely a ploy by Zargon to lure you in and have the resurrected Witch Lord destroy the Heroes. The real Star of the West is to be found a little later in a Quest Pack called the Champion's Trial.

To further my earlier Star of the West speculation in a hopeful direction, if Stephen is indeed writing this Quest Pack, I wouldn't mind seeing a return of Skulmar and possibly Kessandria. Since the Witchlord was tied with the Star of the West (possibly keeping the Witchlord confined), maybe a similar connection could work with his undead henchmen. Even wilder speculation: Since the Star of the West is presumably under the Emperor's care, First Light refers to the Star of the East. I gotta stop this, but it's so fun!

Big reveal for Jungles of Delthrak is planned for May 31st 2-3pm local time at the UK Gaming Expo with (UK) pre-orders beginning shortly thereafter. This to me frees up the possibility of us learning official details about First Light at GenCon (Aug 1-4th).

Now that we've seen Jungles of Delthrak we can focus all our attention wondering about First Light!

My source says it will be a Starter Set. I expect it to be less expensive than the Game System (even though we've seen it go for $66 or so these days, the $135 price point for GS is a lot to ask a casual beginner), but how much? Who can say.

What will it contain? Will it be exclusive to different stores? Will it include original content? Might it spur further distribution of the game into more markets if its a success?

We shall see...

Also reported (thanks seekhashem) is that WOTC is going to be demoing and promoing HeroQuest at their "WPN" stores starting at the end of August. It's a "Pilot program" for organized play.

If it is a starter set, it’s probably going to similar to the D&D starter sets: One box contains the bare minimum you need to play. I could see it as a big expansion size box, with 4 heroes, monsters, dice, character sheets, and a fold-out glossy paper map that resembles the actual game board. Furniture would likely be tiles that need to be punched out, but the artwork would be much like the symbols on the quest map. The included campaign would likely be the story of Rogar and friends.

I personally don’t think it will be a starter set, only an expansion that requires the game system to play, but otherwise will be about Rogar and friends as I mentioned. Perhaps Mentor/Zargon will have more of an in-game role as an NPC perhaps.

My second guess is perhaps an expansion featuring a Cleric type character. An armored healer with poor weapon choices. Somewhere between a Wizard and an Elf.
