That would be cool to have a DQP with Ogres, but it must have a dragon as a final boss to feel right.
They could even re use the mythic one to expedite this.

I don't think that the license would be at a better place at GWS. They are not know to be open and tolerant towards usage of their IP outside their own product line and one of the first things that they might do is demand this website to remove a lot of content.

Many of us thought the same thing about HeroQuest in the hands of Hasbro gaming in 2020, a public company then known to produce short-lived, FOMO-fueled, expensive collectibles via HasLab. Granted, this is the same parent company of the original 1989 era Milton Bradley that worked with GWS to produced HeroQuest in the first place... but still. At one time we thought seeing HeroQuest widely and affordably in retail again--and not just in North America or in English--was an impossible dream (turns out this was Avalon Hill's plan all along).

That's certainly a risk, good point about the legacy IP thing. But the idea that GWS having it would have to mean it was a limited edition, FOMO collectible I don't think is a given, since people said the same thing about Haslab and it was planned to be a retail product from the beginning.

Maybe if GWS was licensed to do the work rather than the sole owner... like Renegade Studios doing HeroScape or the USopoly (Hasbro) collab with GWS for 40K Risk several years back.

Still, would you rather the franchise be destroyed by mediocre content and mishandling of existing property and go dormant again? I've said before I'd rather they quit while they're ahead if they're just going to ruin it (the best option would be good new content for awhile but even after new content stops they keep selling the old stuff). Eventually the fans take over and make custom quests. People can't forget about that. Otherwise HeroQuest ends up as just another all digital, subscription based property and people think if they're phone/internet dies they can't play it anymore (which would be a betrayal of everything the game ever stood for in the first place!).

GWS being in control would allow them to input the stuff they learned from Warhammer Quest and the authentic lore of the original without restrictions (since we presume they didn't want Hasbro to be able to use their Warhammer lore in the new version, but they still wanted it to be sold so they let go of their piece of the pie).

Thanks HZ, let's hope others out there follow suit.

I think the number of customers who will "buy the brand no matter what the holding company does" is very, very small, and they can't count on that, while they will have a risk from those who will put their money and support elsewhere if they think this is a sinking ship run by leadership that doesn't respect us (when they don't respect their workers).

My worry is that too much product will come out too soon. Seems like AH was doing things in a methodical or measured way. I fear that Hasbro may release must have character packs or expansions that will make the older characters useless. Which will drive demand for the new characters. I could def see them issuing barbarian 2.0 using the exact same mold with better starting equipment or ability cards.

Or they will introduce leveling up and other DnD style stuff. I hope they don't start doing card packs introducing new weapons and armor types that will give everyone 5 combat dice and 6 defend dice.

I realize that cancelling the game could be something they would do, which would suck, but going the opposite direction would be equally terrible. Hasbro thrives on FOMO!

Hey is the general discussion thread locked? Wonder what's up with that?

Came back to say it's weird that AH games' Twitter is more active then ever while the Zargon Twitter has been dead since Dec 8. Real easy to see now who played "Zargon" after the layoffs.

AH just posted a tweet about FH. Maybe trying to clear out old inventory? HQ is really riding the Strange Bus after the layoffs.

I always worry about power creep for games like this, but I do agree if they do a revised version of the game, or character option packs, the Barbarian could use some skill cards or something. Currently I allow Barbarian players to reroll 1 black shield when attacking with any melee weapon. The Warlock definitely needs a 2.0 version as well. I give the Warlock the Darkness spells from WoM in addition to the Warlock spells. I think all the other heroes are fine so far, except I haven’t tried the Monk yet.

Giving Warlock the darkness spells is a great idea, and thematically perfect as well.
