I can't hear "the Dragon's Lair" without thinking of Dirk the Daring and an extended QTE sequence (perhaps the original one in fact).

Great stuff... |_P

Cael... am I seeing things or are those acid trap tiles, etc. double sided with the same images on both sides? I understand the reverse side of the "Inn" is the "altar of the dragon" (what to me looks like the lazarus pit thingy from dc comics), but what about the small tiles?

Edit: So I wasn't imagining things. Joe's tiles DO have rounded corners, whereas the rest seem to have the "sharper" corners we're all used to. I hope he didn't cut any corners in terms of the quality content quality...

I would trade those rounded corners on the tiles for rounded corners on the dice... (showing myself out!) :?

ME TOO. I have a complete collection of vintage Dragon's Lair stuff occupying a shelf in one of my display cabinets.

Also I could help but think of DRAGON SLAYER and the dragon Verminthrax Pejorative in that film, the similarities in name, sculpt design and title perhaps cannot be coincidence

Ah yes, Dragon Slayer, I recall that movie also. So see my question above about the tiles.

Thanks for the additional details... by the time I get my box there will be nothing left for me to unbox (not complaining about that, by all means, share away!).

Yes all the small tiles are the same on both sides
the new dice are rounded a tiny bit on the corners not a straight 90° corner but nowhere near the shaved off and rounded corners of the OG dice

Hi, maybe the Temple Tile is used in Stephen Baker's quetbook instead of the dragon one?

Nope all the new tiles in the HEROQUEST MYTHIC TIER GAME SET are for The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness by Joe Manganiello except for the ZARGON SKULL/EYE TOKEN and IRON BARRED ALCOVES found in the base game tiles, the STATUE TILE found in Kellar's Keep, and the BONE PILE TILE found in Return of the Witch Lord.

That's weird why they made those tiles double-sided... unless one side gets damaged, there'd be no reason to flip it over to the other if the image is identical, right?

But, maybe they were under a time crunch. I would have just made the other side black (or white).

Nice collection.... is that Dragon Riders of the Styx I see above? I had an articulated Knight action figure associated with that line but his legs broke off, now the guy is worth a fortune it seems.

For me Dragon's Lair was a game I saw in one arcade one time (didn't play it because the place was closed, not because it was so expensive), but wow. We had a kid's picture book that was derived directly from the game. It wasn't until many years later that I tried one of the pc conversions and most recently the Blu-Ray edition (which I am gifting to a friend, cool as it is, I just don't have the same nostalgia for it that he does, still a milestone of gaming).

Back to HeroQuest...

Are those the official names? I know the books identify the "Bone Pile" and "Statue" but the others?

It's one less sheet of cardboard to print. It probably adds up printing so many of them I guess, maybe the couldn't afford the extra few cents per copy with our $3.7m contribution to the project.

no only BONE PILE TILE and STATUE TILE are officially in print in any of the books, the other new base game tiles (STRAIGHT STAIR, IRON BARRED ALCOVES, AND THE ZARGON SKULL/EYE TOKEN) go unmentioned at all. I just picked the most basic descriptive names for them. All of the TCoPD tiles are officially named and described in that questbook.
