I can't read it and it's apparently not available in English. Was just wondering what those monsters are? Look like a cross between the Abominations and Beastmen.

Ok... well, their shoulders show the Tzeentch symbol, so they should surely be a kind of Chaos minor fiends or other Tzeentch minions.

According to their look, they could even be beastmen followers of Tzeenth. In the 80's existed beastmen Citadel miniatures which could fit with such lion-kind look, but not too many.

So yes, they are quite rare creatures, anyway.

Just read something very interesting in WFB 3rd edition:

"Dwarfs are extremely burly and strong for their size. Although their movement rate is quite slow, they can carry burdens far more easily than can humans or Elves. Dwarfs may therefore, wear armour without having to take its encumbrance effects into account; a Dwarf's move is always 3, regardless of armour worn."

This could be a good house rule for Plate Mail.

Found another difference:

Spell Scrolls can only be used by Wizards but Spell Rings can be used by anyone. Both are 1 time use.

Another difference is that a kind of spell like Summon Orcs from HeroQuest does not exist in Warhammer.

However it is true that summoning undeads yes.

I picture Summon Undead is like a Necromancer raising them from the ground. But I picture Summon Orcs more like blowing a horn to call for reinforcements. Or maybe it could be Skeleton Orcs?

Yeah of course, the summon undeads is clearly linked with buried undeads rising form the ground as a typical Warhammer necromancy spell, but as said, none calling/summoning Orcs spell existed at the time in Warhammer, however those creatures appear onto the board/battlefield, that's why I see it a difference between both universes, but it is true it is not a big difference difficult to fit one on each other, in my opinion, we can live with that |_P

Re: Overview of the Old World

Postby Cael Darkhollow » Wednesday April 24th, 2024 1:07am

here is the large fold out map of The Old World product for the current The Old World setting
(remember it is set in Imperial Year 2276 while HeroQuest is likely set sometime between the years 2304-2335 on the Imperial Calendar so this map dates some 29-59 years before the estimated time of HeroQuest.)
it's big! 1,000x890 mm yes that's a whole meter in length! Roughly 38 inches some 3.28 feet wide by 35 inches or nearly 3 feet tall. printed on heavyweight durable thicker paper. Folded it is something like 9 inches by 5 inches and has an attatched glossy cardboard cover front and back.
They have an interactive version online that the icons can be clicked for more info on the factions represented they have detailed so far. Here's hoping they publish lore that is useful to vintage HeroQuest.

Besides the map printed on the back of the EU version of Return of the Witchlord, and the couple of maps in the Heroquest novels, this may be the closest thing there is to an official HeroQuest Old World map.

of course for the grandest map of the Warhammer old world ever put together check this out
The Super Huge, Detailed Map of the Warhammer Old World
Map for the 2522nd year of Sigmar's Glorious Empire and you can zoom in and out. If I could print it all out (at someone else's expense) I would but it would probably cover the whole driveway
