I mapped the odd variant of Rogar's Hall from the video here out of curiosity.

As you pointed out, the sized of the Sorcerer's Table is wrong (in the "shadows" you can see he chose to put the door lower to make room for the furniture and preserve the placement of the skeleton) so I chose to put the skeleton on top of the table (surprise!).

The Monster BP tally is 28, making a tougher quest in terms of GS difficulty (still less intimidating than The Trial which had an amazing 35!).

At first I thought maybe it was just a placeholder grabbed from another official quest, but I glanced over the official quests and didn't find a match (GS, KK, ROTWL, EQP, BQP, ATOH, WOM, Dark Company, and the Mythic tier packs: COPD, SQT and POT).

Below is a version that adjusts to what is shown in the shadows...

hahaha, great work!!

Notice this map includes traps so it does not match with the non-trap-first-quest concept... so I think it seems to be just a random map to be shown there.

Agreed. But I wonder who made it? Did Carlos Luna make it, or did someone at Avalon Hill provide the disguised file for him to use in his video? Maybe he knows...

I AGREE wholeheartedly that Rogar's Hall is far too hard to be the FIRST quest for newbies to the game ----- it will absolutely destroy their will to ever return to the game.

Personally, I am playing Rogar's Hall with my Newbie-Team in this spot:

Quest 6 = Legacy of the Orc Warlord
Quest 6a = Rogar's Hall ************
Quest 7 = The Lost Wizard


In Quest 6, Legacy of the Orc Warlord, the Heroes have been CAPTURED and are imprisoned! They must find their Equipment and escape!

When the Heroes reach the EXIT STAIRS of Quest 6, I have my MENTOR figure waiting on the Stairs for them ----- he then says to them, "With your capture, I have realized, your Training is not complete. To prevent this from ever happening again, I will take you now to Rogar's Hall......follow me........"

Then I have the Heroes play Rogar's Hall. After they complete Rogar's Hall we move on to Quest 7!

Narratively, this is my FAVORITE spot to put Rogar's Hall.

Otherwise, it's far too insanely hard for First Time players. It would scare off the newbies!!! :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock:

OK ---- I ran "Rogar's Hall" with my HeroQuest Group this past weekend and guess what? It wasn't that hard for them.

With Mentor giving everyone a Potion of Healing when they died, coupled with additional Potions of Healing that they found along the way, the group of Hero players actually SURVIVED and beat this Quest!

Out of curiosity, how many Potions of Healing did it take? (And were these 1d6 potions or +4 potions)

You can still get it here.

If played as written, I think Rogar's Hall is almost guaranteed failure, and the Heroes don't really suffer for it (but may be frustrated in that session), because they don't stay dead and move on to the next quest after a single run of it.

As I understood it, you only got the d6 potions from the Treasure Deck as Mentor's "auto-heals." But in theory those three healing potions might only let three heroes come back to life with 1 BP (unlucky die rolls). Yes, there's two heals from the Spells (4 each, for Earth and Water), but that's it...

If you modify it to say Mentor simply restores any hero that dies (giving them their max body points back)... perhaps even infinitely, then sure, it would be very easy, just a very long quest.
