Unless we're talking the Ogres (EQP, ATOH), there really wasn't any assembly for the figures... just the Gargoyle's head and wings (no glue required). The characters were all one piece and twisted out of the sprues. The later mercenaries were intended to have the bolt on weapons.

It's true, the furniture did require assembly... cardboard slid into the plastic, but very easy for a 10 year old.

Didn't the bears and Yetis require assembly ? As well as Mr. FH himself?

Yes, all three of those frozen horror figure types required you to apply the head. Sinestra in the MOTM had to apply the head too.

So they weren't all assembly free, it's true, but what little there was, was very simple, especially in the game system box (and none in KK/ROTWL).

I wouldn't really consider it much to insert the punched out cardboard door into the plastic base. The remake mostly has the pre-glued figures, but still requires the punching out of tiles and puts the skulls on sprues again.

I wish the new ones were not pre-glued, almost all of glued pieces from my Mythic box were not trimmed correctly then glued wrong as a result, would have rather have done it myself

Perhaps that's something that AH can look into at a later date, or perhaps authorize a 3rd party company to make minis that we can assemble. Then to add to the flavor, either give them some options such as different torsos, heads and weapons/shields to pick and choose from so that you can customize your mini either for a boss or personal character such as the Elf armed with a crossbow, the Barbarian in a chain shirt and/or armed with a battleaxe.

While there are always printable options for this, I think that there are enough people out there that this would appeal too as not everyone has a good quality resin printer to make minis.

Speaking strictly for myself, I am glad that the HQ 2021+ minis are preassembled. While I very much understand the willingness of some folks to assemble minis, in some cases as a preference, I personally have enough games that require assembly, and for a game that is ostensibly a mass market product, assembled miniatures makes a lot of sense (to me).

It is true that with mass production, preassembled models can arrive flawed, and it sucks when it happens. However, I've had far more problems with miniatures in games that arrive as "Model Kits", think Shadows of Brimstone or Aliens Another Glorious Day in the Corps as two examples off the top of my head, which have fiddly bits that can easily break, or ill-fitting "Push-fit" joints like Imperial Assault, Kings of War, or Warhammer Push-fit games, where the "keys" do not always fit properly.

Point is, in my experience few games are perfect when it comes to miniatures, so I'd prefer to play out of the box where possible, and am less fond of having to build a kit before I can get started.

That said, regardless of the approach, it's always a bummer when miniatures come broken, malformed, missing pieces, or are poorly assembled at the factory. This hobby isn't inexpensive to begin with, so it can be disappointing when game components are flawed, and it's understandable and reasonable to voice those concerns.

Again, speaking only for myself here, I like that I (Mostly) don't have to worry about putting HQ miniatures together. I will admit though, I have had relatively few problems with my HeroQuest minis to date. Had my Mythic set been problematic from the get-go, (Other than bendy weapons), I might feel differently.

I’m glad Hasbro is releasing pdfs of the released reprints, as well as having old crappy scans of the original versions, but I wish they also offered printer-friendly versions of the reprint material (instructions, quests books, online quests, and anything else available to print). The only change that would really need to be made is to remove the parchment background, and maybe colored backgrounds in text boxes so the entire page isn’t covered in ink.

I noticed when I printed out the online quests, there is so much ink, it just rubs off from handling. It never seems to fully absorb into the paper. The scans we have on this site are very nice, and would be sufficient if they were not in booklet format. I don’t like using devices when gaming, and prefer printed copies of online material that I can roll my dice on, write notes or whatever. Having an extra instruction manual laying around isn’t bad either.

Its possible I just have a cheap printer, but I have never had issues like this printing material for other games, which have mostly plain white backgrounds, even if there are maps and other art on the page.

in my thread here: Fixing Avalon Hill's Rules and Quests by Maalicia_Ironhoof I have made corrected versions (fixing errors and making them fit the page correctly - no bleed markers etc) of the AH PDF's with the crap cut out of them, I could easily do printer friendly versions of them. I don't have the same issues you are having using a laser printer, but didn't consider the issues people might have using home printers.

Maybe this is old news, but I didn't realize they had a copy of the Remake Character Sheet PDF available on the Hasbro Consumer Care page (under Game sheet refills): https://consumercare.hasbro.com/en-us/game-refill (11th item from the top, when accessed today). You can also search for HeroQuest to find it. File dated 1/20/21.

I find the sheets supplied in the game way too small for purpose.
I scanned a copy of the sheets supplied with the Adventure Design Kit years ago, which are much better and more useful, and then spent an hour or so using picture edit program so now I have a sheet that looks original but with space and titles for spell scrolls, potions, artifacts, gold, spells active, and loads more.
