Tabletop Simulator?

Just seeing how many of you play via the Tabletop Simulator on Steam. Am currently procrastinating rebasing things but still would love to play HQ online with some people.

Just recently got the Tabletop Simulator (still trying to figure out how it all works). I got downloaded a bunch of Necromunda stuff and some Heroquest stuff.

Tabletop simple is a physics engine with a tabletop for gaming that allows users created content. Nearly every boardgame ever made has a free version some kind sold hs spent their time creating.

I use the tabletop simulator and all that I can say is that I love it mainly because of the 360-degree paranormal background. It really fascinates me!

I have just started messing with it on Steam... I see there are a TON of different Hero Quest related modules out there (all free of course). The trouble is, I wonder how to combine them? It seems like each one is imperfect in some way because either a ton of the assets are broken ("file not found" errors) or else it is a custom ruleset that I don't want to use. I guess we all have our house rules, but a lot of them use a miniature style I don't want, or the wrong dice, or the cards are different than I want to use. Any pointers for those who have used it awhile? Is there any reasonably complete and playable HQ module out there? I've never tried it online, just messed around with it offline and it shows a lot of potential I think.

Okay I'm slowly learning how to properly run things in this "game." So you subscribe to the mods and then you create your game and load them in "Workshop." And you load the main one, then click on the three dots in the corner of another mod and "additive load" (meaning you drop it on top of the previous one). A lot of the mods have missing models, so I have just been using process of elimination to find the best ones. Once in the game (I have to use "OpenGL" or the game doesn't launch at all from Steam... my system is ancient) you can actually delete the pieces you don't need. I don't want the dice towers (although that's interesting) or the "2d" style character markers or the animated miniatures that look like they were grabbed from some other game. I should post some screenshots, but I've seen people have created some pretty decent looking 3d scans of the original miniatures in both classic solid colors and "painted" looking. The board tends to get pretty cluttered and I haven't tried playing online with others, but looks very promising. Too bad so many of the versions out there are broken. But it's all free (once you buy "tabletop simulator"). Looks like they have all the expansions and a lot of homebrew rules including many inspired from this community.
