Edited by HispaZargon: due to their topic of discussion, some of the posts from thread "Against the Ogre Horde 2024 Remake Edition Suggestions" have been moved to this post. They can be identified by its subject title.

And now thanks to the reporting of SteveRS2000 from HeroQuestFans Discord... we have an official (?) release date... and title! Time to start a new mega-thread??

3/28: ATOH is of course now widely released in retail (with official PDF of the quest book and App update expected within 2 months)... enjoy the ride!

More Breaking News! https://www.firestormgames.co.uk/heroquest:-ogre-horde-quest-pack Thanks to alert HeroQuestFan SteveRS2000 who stumbled upon this on a UK site, reported to our discord!

HeroQuest: Ogre Horde Quest Pack
Our Price: £34.84
(RRP: £40.99)

HeroQuest: Ogre Horde Quest Pack
Brand: Hasbro
Product Code: HASF9528
Availability: Expected on March 31st 2024

Note the dropping of "Against." :zombie:
This is a title change from those store leaks earlier, of course titles do change prior to release.
They must have liked better how it showed up on the box, or a further clue that it was changing content inside. Recall they shortened the titles of the two other big expansions as well: Barbarian Quest Pack: The Frozen Horror; Quest pack for the Elf: Mage of the Mirror...

Update: Finally some pictures revealing box contents and all the speculation about them until the full unboxing appears (hopefully shortly):

Re: Against the Ogre Horde 2024 Remake Edition Suggestions

Postby HispaZargon » Thursday October 19th, 2023 2:45pm

During my investigations through ancient HeroQuest stuff, I discovered not too much time ago that the original title given by Milton Bradley to the UK's expansion was "The Ogre Horde", however at the very end of designing stages, they decided to change the title to the well known "Against the Ogre Horde".

Then, the new title "The Ogre Horde", which seems that will be given by Hasbro/Avalon Hill to this expansion, is actually not so 'new'.

In the other hand, the price of the expansion suggests me that it could have a big box format, like TFH, MOTM or ROTDM... so the number of miniatures would not necesarily be close to the original (7 Ogre miniatures + Ogre Throne model + 4 Stone Doors models) so maybe they could extend the duration of the campaign (however I would be quite surprised about this, the number of the original quests was seven and I think they will keep the same attending to how Hasbro/AH has treated the brand until now). To add something 'new' they will probably include inside the box the Druid Hero from the Mythic Tier, however not oo many more new addons will be included because the price is lower than other expansions, and the plastic items are usually the most expensive contents. In other words, though they include mroe new extra "ogre furniture" or "dOgre dice" or whatever, I think this box will contain more 'air' than usual. Just speculation from my side, but all these guesses make sense for me.

My only doubt about this speculation is if the big outboard/dread pit tile could be enough small to be stored inside a small expansion box instead of in a big one, which can be easily forecasted by scalling an old one for 1 inch squares board (unfortunatelly I cannot do it now). If not, they will definetively give us the expansion in the same box size as TFH, MOTM and ROTDM. Moreover, maybe they decide to include absurdly oversized miniatures for the Ogre Lord, Ogre Chieftain and Ogre Champion, in the same line as they did with the Frozen Horror miniature.

AGAINST THE OGRE HORDE discussion

Postby HispaZargon » Friday November 3rd, 2023 10:05am

Well, today has been finally confirmed in Lucca fest that this will be the next expansion to see the light.

It has been also confirmed that title "The Ogre Horde" published in some preorder websites was not correct at all (however it is true that it was the very original title of this expansion before being released in the 90's as I explained in other thread).

I open this thread for any related discussion about this expansion.

Are there any pictures yet? You couldn't recognize anything in the stream, the good man also seemed to have too much coffee, the way he was shaking!

Those are some awesome looking Ogres with cool accessories.

The box was larger than POT and SQT, which we're sitting alongside. I hope the box is thicker than the other "large box" expansions but you really couldn't tell on the stream.

There are people suggesting that one of the background ogres looks like an ogre shaman...

Yes! I can totally see it! I think they are right.

I am also digging the armored up ogre as well. Could the art be a hint at how many Ogres are in the box? Or the different types? AH is usually very deliberate with their art so I wouldn't be surprised if there were more unique Ogre sculpts then in the original release.

HEY WAIT IS THAT A CYCLOPS IN THE BACKGROUND??? Right behind the bone club of the shaman looking guy
