I assume they're metal? That banshee does look so good, but I try not to use metal minis to keep with the established plasticness of HeroQuest.

I totally get this, but you are really limiting yourself. A lot of metal minis from early Warhammer Fantasy actually fit in incredible well. Just stick them on a HQ base 8-)

I've actually done pretty well sticking to that. With all the old WHQ/Talisman minis, I've currently got a ton of extra stuff that I never would have expected. The only metal mini I have currently is this Morcar one:

Hi, Hasbro has already included in the app the KK and ROTWL expansions... there you could check some (now official) pictures of Skulmar & Kessandria... there are also art pics about Gragor and Borokk dreadchaos sorcerers.

Skulmar is basically represented as a Skeleton wearing light armour without helmet and a kind of shirttail/robe, and he wields a scythe.

Kessandria looks I think quite similar to the female dread sorcerer miniature included in the Mythic Tier box.

Gragor is represented as an old mage wielding a staff, apparently same clothing concept as the Storm Master from WoM expansion, but younger and with thinner body.

and Borokk wears a cape and looks like a typical fire or light wizard from Warhammer Fantasy lore...

P.D.: There is also one picture of a Spirit Rider, which is shown riding an undead horse... I don't like too much, they are riders, ok, but were they buried with their horses? Their cardboard coffins size seem to be just for one person body... nothing too important, but...

the only reason the Riders being on horses doesnt bother me is because in Lore the Undead mounts have Intangible movement allowing them to move through
everything like a ghost. Which would be quite troublesome if trying to run away from.

Hi mate. Which pictures in the app are you referring to? When both appear first the app shows some small black and white pictures. But this one shows Skulmar in full armor wearing a helmet as well. Are there other pictures of these too I didn’t see? (If you point on the monster icon in the app the character card shows the same dread sorcerer pictures for Skulmar and Kessandria.

Ooook... thanks to AndYpsilon, we can confirm that Skulmar art in the Hasbro App has been changed in later version/s of the App, I guess in all countries.

Here you have a picture of how Skulmar looked in the first version where Return of the Witch Lord expansion was included:

And here is how Skulmar looks in current version of the App:

App_Skulmar_v2.jpg

I guess could have been also introduced more minor changes like this in later version of the App.

Moreover... we can even speculate about this art change! Could it be linked with a future expansion where Skulmar would appear and Hasbro has decided to update its look in ROTWL to fit it with a new upcoming miniature to represent Skulmar? :-)

These are of course very awesome (and thanks for sharing) but I think in terms of the Classic era designs, they could still look differently, just like other figures change in design from the classic era to the remake era aethetic. But we could imagine that they were some form of Undead or not-quite-undead-but-kinda-undeady-type creatures similar to the Witch Lord (Lich? Wight? What? No name for it in HeroQuest lore officially, look to Warhammer fantasy, D&D, LOTR or your imagination instead??).

I think if you had forced me back in the day to guess what these other bad guys looked like I would have probably pointed to the ROTWL quest book in the NA edition which shows other "skull head" type figures gathered around the Witch Lord, even if that's really not what was intended. Then again I also thought of the "evil Santa" looking guy in the red robe on the GM screen as Zargon (and I still do, dang it). And official or not, I thought of the Chaos Warlock figure as a perfect representation of the Witch Lord (though in the booklet or original Les Edwards Art he is more ornately dressed it's true). So maybe these others were dressed in that more "standard" uniform with just slight adjustments in body type and condition of decay.

At one time I was disappointed that there was no official final showdown with Skullmar, but looking back they intended any "rematch" to occur in your own homemade quest adventures with the blank map! |_P

You're welcome, HispaZargon and all others interested in this topic. In my opinion these variations of villains are great, showing different looks in differnet battles/battle situations. Reminds me a bit of the Witch-King of Angmar in LotR, who appears in different forms/armor as well.

The disappointing aspect with these very nice pictures from the app is for me the missed opportunity to upgrade the RotWL expansion pack with the HQ 2021 re-release. It would have been really awesome, if Hasbro had put miniatures of the witch-lord (and also Skulmar and Kessandria) into this pack. Of course with some nice monster cards which give us a little background information.
The witch-lord is all over the artwork of the new questbook - but only owners of the mythic tier set are able to play him. I can accept that all of these three individuals should be represented by the chaos sorcerer in the old HeroQuest. But for a new edition like HQ21 it seems weird to me; even more because they indeed did create a witch-lord mini ...

At least I found the great undead Dungeon Masters villains pack from Knightmare Miniatures created by Boris Woloszyn. These are obviously inspired by the witch-lord, Skulmar and Kessandria and are in fact a great addon to the original game.

@Kurgan: I like your thoughts about Skulmar a lot: As much as I'd appreciate a Skulmar addon, I love the idea that Hasbro/GW intended the players to invent their own Skulmar-adventures!
